Fertility testing for women

Female fertility testing is a critical first step in understanding reproductive health and creating a personalized path to parenthood. At SCCRM, we offer comprehensive diagnostic evaluations designed to identify factors that may impact fertility. From hormone testing and ovarian reserve assessments to advanced imaging and anatomical evaluations, our experienced team uses cutting-edge technology to provide clear answers and actionable insights.

Key factors

During female fertility testing, your doctor will concentrate on three key aspects of female reproduction: the ovaries, Fallopian tubes, and uterus. These reproductive organs provide important information on the following:

Egg Quantity and Quality

  • Ovarian Reserve: Is there an adequate number of eggs available for potential pregnancy, and what is their quality?

  • Hormonal Balance: Are hormone levels such as AMH, FSH, and estradiol optimal to support egg development and ovulation?

Fertilization Ability

  • Fallopian Tube Patency: Are the Fallopian tubes open and functioning properly to allow the egg and sperm to meet for fertilization?

  • Structural Integrity: Are there any blockages, adhesions, or damage that could prevent the egg’s passage or impede fertilization?

Uterine Receptiveness

  • Uterine Cavity Health: Is the uterus free of fibroids, polyps, or scarring that could interfere with embryo implantation?

  • Endometrial Lining: Is the uterine lining thick and receptive enough to support an embryo for implantation and sustain a pregnancy?

  • Shape and Structure: Are there any congenital or acquired abnormalities in the uterine shape that could affect pregnancy outcomes?

Fertility testing for men

We offer a wide range of male fertility testing to address factors contributing to infertility, which affects nearly half of all couples struggling to conceive. Testing includes evaluations of sperm health, hormonal balance, and structural integrity of the reproductive system. Advanced diagnostic techniques, such as ultrasounds, genetic testing, and semen analysis, help identify potential issues, while personalized assessments provide insights into overall reproductive health. SCCRM’s comprehensive approach ensures that underlying causes are addressed, empowering individuals and couples with effective treatment options for achieving their family-building goals.

Key factors

Male fertility testing focuses on identifying factors that may contribute to infertility. Key areas of evaluation include:

  • Sperm Health: Examines sperm count (total number of sperm), motility (movement and ability to reach the egg), morphology (shape and structure), and functional ability to fertilize an egg, providing a comprehensive understanding of sperm quality.

  • Hormonal Levels: Measures levels of key hormones such as testosterone, FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), and sometimes LH (luteinizing hormone) or prolactin to ensure they are at optimal levels to regulate sperm production and overall reproductive health.

  • Anatomical and Structural Factors: Uses imaging techniques like scrotal ultrasound to identify physical issues such as varicoceles (enlarged veins in the scrotum) and transrectal ultrasound to detect blockages or abnormalities in the seminal vesicles or ejaculatory ducts.

  • Immunological Factors: Tests for the presence of antisperm antibodies that can interfere with sperm movement, function, or ability to fertilize an egg, often contributing to unexplained infertility.

  • Testicular Function: Involves biopsies to directly assess sperm production within the testicles, particularly in cases of low or no sperm in the ejaculate, to determine if the issue is production-related or due to an obstruction.

  • Other Factors: Tests for the presence of antisperm antibodies or DNA fragmentation that can interfere with sperm movement, function, or ability to fertilize an egg, often contributing to unexplained infertility.

Genetic testing (PGT)

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is an advanced procedure performed during in vitro fertilization (IVF) that allows us to analyze the genetic makeup of embryos. This testing ensures that only the healthiest embryos are selected for transfer, improving the chances of a successful pregnancy and reducing the likelihood of passing on inherited genetic conditions. Our team works closely with you to determine whether PGT is the right option for your fertility journey, providing personalized recommendations based on your medical history and family-building goals.
